That said, I've done things a little backwards, while yes, Normal mode was easy if you're experienced with the Diablo-esque games of the world, I did a second playthrough on -Easy-.
But "Delcar" I hear you ask, "Don't you eat dragon for breakfast and fart lightning?" Yes, its true, but I did it to get hands-on with a brilliant twist they've added - herilooms.
I chose Neltara's spiffy hat because I like hats AND it had a +Movement speed and a +Gold enchant, both of which are handy for a newish farming character.
I took some risks, and layered some enchants on the hat, here it is pre-heirlooming:

The folks at the Torchlight forums tell me that you can heirloom something about ten times, each time lowering the requirements and buffing the stats. Sounds great right? Yes, well to do it you have to beat the main quest, then permanently retire the character and chose your one item to gift.
The shared stash means you can pass everything else down too, and your decendant gets a fame boost as well.
