Rebooting Jaerrick’s Journal.

Okay, I’m going to come clean.

I’ve been doing a horrible job keeping up on Jaerrick’s journal and (So no this isn’t actually a Jaerrick’s Journal entry.)

First, when I started doing Jaerrick’s Journal we had already begun the campaign and I was literally trying desperately to catch up.

That didn’t go too well, and eventually in a desperate bid to keep my family fed, I actually picked up a job that required me to work 6 days a week for about 60 hours mostly in the evenings and weekends.  I wasn’t even able to attend sessions.

Ever try writing a report about a book you’ve never read?  I’m sure you have.  ;)

So this Summer Jaerrick’s Journals was doomed to failure.

But now things have changed.

The company that was working me to the bone has folded up shop so I can attend RPG sessions once more.

We’ve just wrapped up a chapter and the characters are going into a very much needed ten week break from absolute terror and can get back to the mundane order of the day (chores, classes, more chores, and the inevitable after school job.)  Fortunately we’re not going to be role playing any of the mundane ten weeks and get to use the GURPS time use sheets for advancement purposes.

One other thing that we’re changing, which should make Jaerrick’s Journal entries more consistent, is that we’ve assigned the player running Tashakina, to write book reports on the sessions.  To assist in my son’s writing development, I’ve taken it upon myself to become (what I’m calling) a chronicler.  I’ll literally being writing down the sequence of what each character does (especially in combat.)  My son and I have already done a trial of this method, and between the two of us, we take pretty good notes and can hammer down what actually happened and when.

So while my son is writing his reports, I’ll be doing a comparable entry for Jaerrick’s Journal.  If everything goes according to plan, you should see a weekly update on the Journal (excepting those weeks that we don’t play.)

To keep you all up to speed . . .

In the last chapter our group was confronted by the elven Arch-mage and all around socio-path Marquesa!  (Yeah, she IS one of those World of Greyhawk staple villanesses.)

Marquesa had allied herself with a group of Drow in an attempt to seek vengeance against Delcar and his meddlesome group.  In previous campaigns, Marquesa had been foiled and captured by Delcar and Rashida, and then entrapped by the Elves of Selenne who polymorphed her into a tree on a 500 year imprisonment sentence.

Indeed, Marquesa DID find a way to escape and has been orchestrating her revenge.

In the end result, a lot of Drow and their hench-beings (Bug-bears) were killed,  BUT Marquesa chose a more prudent course of action and fled.

The fights were harrowing and the margins of victory were balanced on a razors edge.

We now find ourselves in a new year (CY 570) and will resume play on the feast week of Planting.  (A seven day month week which occurs every 3 months and is dominated by the primary moon being full at the center of said week.)
