The thing that kind of tipped my experience over the top was the waitress. She was the first waitress who took the order down in actual, honest to goodness Chinese.Sure it’s a small thing, but dang it all when you can spell General Tso’s Chicken with three lines, THAT’s impressive.(And rapid too.)
First Mr. K’s is located in the relatively newer LakeNona area just east of the Orlando International Airport (MCO) just off of Narcoossee. If you’re looking for this place its across the street from the Publix to the North of Moss Park Rd.
The décor won’t make or break a restaurant for me, but Mr K’s is topical and not overstated. Yeah, you know you’re in an oriental environment, but they aren’t beating you over the head, and the interior design is tasteful and pleasant.
I really enjoyed Mr. K’s food.Prices were reasonable, portions were VERY generous, and the food was very good.
I recently visited and there were four of us eating and I got to sample quite a bit of variety, including the Sushi.
Let’s start with the sushi.First, understand that I’m not big into sushi and I’ll pass on it at any given point. But one of the members in our party is big into sushi and ordered a single platter. And my what a platter it was.I’m not certain what the traditional sushi serving size looks like, but I’ve never seen so much raw fish served for a like price. My other experience with sushi was with a pricy place up in Altimont Springs (Crazy Buffet?) who’s prices were much higher and the servings not quite as fresh. But again, I’m not mush for that cuisine.
I am a sucker for good Dim Sum and Mr. K doesn’t disappoint.
Now to my personal favorite; the Chinese food.
Again this was my ideal situation. Prices fine, and portions large enough to require a take out box.Everything that I tasted was delicious.
I also find that I’m particular about egg rolls, and will generally give them a pass (Bad experience in my earlier years) but I got an egg roll with the lunch special and was well pleased.
If you want to know what I find ideal in a Chinese restaurant visit Mr. K’s.
